Here's something I thought was fascinating. We count by 10s because fingers right.. ancient #Egyptians counted by 12s in the most ingenious way.

Touch your thumb to the top, index finger, joint like pic1. Count 1.

Move down one joint like pic2. Count 2.

Continue down and then next finger so pic3 is 8 and pic4 is 12.

Now you raise one finger on the other hand and start over.

Once you've raised 5 fingers it's 60.

This is why time and angles are in multiples of 12.

We just installed a new microwave so I went to set the clock.

My helper pointed out that I don't have to set it at all: the display stays blank, unless something's cooking or we need the timer. The stove right below it has a clock already.

So now I never have to see two clocks that are infuriatingly close to being in sync, but which never quite get there, in my kitchen again. Ever.
